A group of ten found guilty of digital abuse against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for engaging in the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the partner of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.

The defendants faced charges of circulating fabrications regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing malicious remarks about the couple's significant age difference.

The court issued conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the perpetrators. The complete verdict has not yet been published.

A longstanding conspiracy theory claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.

This Monday's court decision in France is concurrent with the Macrons initiating a defamation lawsuit in the United States of America against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's gender.

Their legal filing alleges that Owens disregarded any factual proof disproving her claim choosing instead to give a platform to established defamers.

Owens has regularly repeated these allegations on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would risk all her credibility on her conviction that Mrs. Macron was born a man.

Brigitte Macron first met her future husband when she was a teacher at his high school.

The couple tied the knot in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was 54.
