AC Shadows Unveils Bizarre Attack on Titan Crossover for Holiday Season
In a surprising crossover event that breaks usual expectations, Ubisoft has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Revealed
According to the official release, "A strange encounter draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where hints of prohibited rituals and terrifying metamorphoses echo through the obscurity." The plot presents a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a clandestine group.
The adventure focuses on "peculiar experiments and a terrifying adversary" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Metamorphoses
The teaser highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview finishes with a striking scene showing a character, presumably the captive, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Rewards and Additional Features
Players who accomplish the quest will receive an unique katana alongside several objects secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Update
This patch also adds the game's latest complimentary story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature techniques: Naoe reveals a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Past Japanese Animation Collaborations
This represents not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime franchises. The series previously featured a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla unofficially included a quest that unmistakably referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
