19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev claimed his initial championship for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging year, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually separating with former mentor his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually progressed in the past month - peaking in a closely contested competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.

Success also signifies the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my children together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, comprising in that event earlier this year.

The player's defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had led some to question if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an improved serve.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his initial tour championship, took control to create a decider.

Moutet defended four early break points in a close third set before the champion broke to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
