Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear unsuited, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—used the foes for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their status as important members in the influential clan could enable the group enter locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This means them few options but to travel to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.
What’s Next?
According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to round up the Explorers and Strategists groups.
Audiences can expect learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
