Vinted Shoppers Voice Anger About Size Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all users about the change.
Social Media Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
It has advised users to examine their items and manually change the size if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Changes
Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Required Changes
Another shopper, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
